Personal property transportation regulations through state border of the Republic of Belarus mainly coincide with world standards. Without appropriate permission stipulated by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus the following items are prohibited and restricted to be transported by individuals (export and import) through the customs of the Republic of Belarus:
- fire-arms and their ammunition of any military type, war outfit;
- drug, psychoactive, poisonous, contaminating, potent, radioactive and explosive substances;
The phytosanitary and veterinary permission is required for transportation of animals and plants through the border.
There are restrictions in terms of quantity of items exempt from customs duties. Thus, one can transport 50 kg of baggage free of charge (except for ethyl alcohol and indivisible goods), customs value of which does not exceed an amount equivalent to ˆ1,500. Unified customs duty rates, taxes in relation to the goods of personal use concerning exceed of restriction of duty-free import except for indivisible goods – 30 % of the value but not less than ˆ4 per 1 kg – remain in force. That is if duty-free import rate is exceeded, one is obliged to pay a duty tax.
The import of the following goods is restricted:
- Alcoholic beverages – not more than 3 liters (for individuals of age);
- 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars (cigarillos) or 250 grams of tobacco or all the above said items with total weight of more than 250 gram per one individual of age.
Money Assets
The rate of obligatory customs declaration is specified for an individual who simultaneously imports and exports available cash and (or) travel checks with total amount equivalent to US $10 000. Apart from this, if transporting available cash and (or) cash instruments subject to obligatory customs declaration by individuals through the border of the Customs Alliance, it is required to fill in additional information on an individual transporting cash instruments, on the source of available cash and (or) cash instruments, supposed application, etc. The requirement for submission of permits is canceled.
